We have moved to Praa Sands - TR20 9SQ
At a weight that sits between that of Double Knit wools and Chunky yarns, Aran wool is slightly heavier wool. Nevertheless, it is still diverse enough to create a truly luxurious and comfortable garment of clothing. You can learn a lot about advanced knitting techniques with our fantastic range of Aran wool knitting patterns. Aran wool is traditionally used to create the raised cable stitched, twisted, and diamond patterned designs that are so commonly associated with classic fisherman’s jumpers. Since these are historically native to the Aran islands off the west coast of Ireland, the wool has earned its namesake. These jumpers were unique to each clan within the islands, much like kilts were to Scottish families. Due to the natural oils in Aran wool, the wool stays dry for longer in spite of harsh weather. As such, Aran wool also has the additional benefit of being easier to wash and maintain, so you can expect longer life from your knitted garment when using this wool.
A soft and extremely wearable wool-blend Aran yarn, available in solid and tweed-effect shades in 400g Balls.
